Mentha arvensis is the primary species of mint used to make natural menthol crystals and natural menthol flakes. This species is primarily grown in the Uttar Pradesh region in India. Menthol as an organic compound also manufactured synthetically or obtained from peppermint or other mint oils.The crystals are waxy, crystalline substance, clear or white in color, which is solid at room temperature with a very low melting point. The main form of menthol occurring in nature is negative menthol.
